Hii
guys! I hope you all had a happy halloween! I wish you could see the
way people decorate out here. It's a little scary. I've decided my
favorite halloween decorations are lollipop ghosts that you put on the
tree.
This
past week was really really good! It's been great to see how the area
is improving. It just reminds me that we won't always see how much good
we do. missionaries have been working really hard here for a long time
and it's all paying off! A lot of really cool things happened this week!
1. a member of the 70 came to our stake conference
2.
the member of the 70 asked sister scott and i to do a role play (or
demonstration) of how to help members with their missionary work
3. it was terrifying
4. afterwards we received 5 referrals
5. one of the referrals is actually very interested
1.
Elder Martino from the 70 came to the stake because the stake president
here was released! Elder Martino is super nice and we actually had a
chance to talk to him for a little and he gave us so many tips and ideas
of how to get members more involved with the missionary work here.
2.
President Morgan called us Friday night and told us that Elder Martino
needed to missionaries to help him during the saturday night session of
stake conference. We were called up in the middle of the meeting with a
family from the ward to basically demonstrate how missionaries should
help members with the missionary work.
3.
i normally am pretty fine with speaking in front of people, a little
nervous but it's all good once i get up there. but this time was a bit
different. not going to lie i had nervous butterflies up there on the
stand. and do you know how hard it is to stand naturally in front of 300
people?!
4. After the meeting and on Sunday
morning some members came up to us and gave us some referrals of friends
and family that they know that they feel are ready to hear about the
gospel! It was so cool! Sister Scott and I were just amazed!
5.
We got one referral from the stake president, he wants us to see a lady
who is going through some really hard times. She is a newly single mom
of 4 kids all under the age of 6, both of her parents are religious but
she doesn't have a church that she attends right now, her dad actually
asked the stake member if he could send missionaries to see her so she
had no idea that we had been asked to visit her and so when we knocked
on her door we didn't know how she would react. We told her that we
share a message of happiness and she asked us if we could come back! We
left her porch feeling overwhelmed with the love that Heavenly Father
has for her. So many prayers are being said for her.
This
week was great and we have another one coming up! It's getting pretty
cold here, cold enough that i rolled out my winter suit case. We had
daylight savings yesterday and of course i was confused beyond belief
(arizona problems).
loving missionary life
